Coming up with Your Yearbook Theme

While a theme is not necessary to the yearbook, it is vital to the formation of the book. Yes, every yearbook will have the pictures and articles. But every great yearbook will tie it all up with the perfect theme.

Every school year is unique. Every school has its own story to tell. A yearbook staff duty is to try and capture that vibe and encapsulate it within the pages of the yearbook. The best way to achieve that is through creating a solid theme.

So gather your yearbook staff and collectively brainstorm everything relevant to your school and your community. Look for inspiration in everything! Think about how can you convey your theme throughout the yearbook.

Try to keep it simple. There is nothing worse than seeing a variation of the same graphic on every page or reading the same phrase over and over again.
